Scarlett Family Honors Larry Arendt

A new scholarship has been added to the Bill and Kay Scarlett Family Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Shiawassee Community Foundation in memory of Lawrence “Larry” Arendt, who passed away at the age of 60 on Sep. 29, 2018.

Larry was born in Dover, NJ on Oct. 26, 1957, the son of Frank and Fannie (Giaquinto) Arendt. He married Susan Scarlett on May 3, 1986 in Delray Beach, Florida. Larry worked at Slingerland Chrysler as the Parts Manager, retiring in July 2018 after 23 years of service. He was a member of Owosso Eagles Aerie #851 and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and cooking. He was a “car man” who enjoyed driving his Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 to events such as Back to the Bricks, the Woodward Dream Cruise, and the Frankenmuth Auto Fest. Larry also devoted endless hours working on the Scarlett Family Scholarship memorial fundraiser at the bowling tournaments and casino trips. However, Larry’s greatest joys in life were the times he spent with his family, from private times to large gatherings at his home.

This scholarship was established by Larry’s wife, Susan, and will benefit students in the Shiawassee County area planning to pursue a career in the automotive industry.
